Snow Day 2015: Take 3

We had our biggest snow of the year last week - 6 whole inches!  This actually is more than we usually get, and it was so soft and packed really great!  Melting snowmen still line the streets of our neighborhood.

Then, over the weekend we had a little ice and freezing rain.  The roads were a little slick Sunday morning, but it was all melted by Sunday afternoon as it got a bit warmer.

All of these photos were taken a few days after the "big" snow because (see below) I had to work on the actual snow day.  A lot had melted by the time I was able to enjoy playing in it, but the hospital did provide some great views of a snowy Chapel Hill!

The following photos are from Thursday morning, in the middle of all the snow falling.  The trees were beautiful!  Though, also apparently quite heavy, because several fell and caused power outages throughout our area (thankfully not our home).

We considered driving to UNC before it started snowing on Wednesday night, but sleeping at the hospital is not fun.  So, we decided to risk it and just go early on Thursday.  I had to be there at 6:45am, so we left by 5:30am to make sure we had plenty of time (turns out that Stuart actually didn't have to go in at all because all of his clinics were closed, but he didn't want me to drive alone, so he just went in and helped since everyone was short-staffed due to the weather anyway!).  We took it slow and had no real trouble... and we were there around 6am!

The hospital is at the top of a long hill, and this little Honda was stuck in the snow at the bottom.  Stuart hopped out and gave them a push...

Success!  However, they struggled all the way up the hill... and we eventually passed them.  Hope they made it!

Arrived safely in the parking deck.

Some L&D nurses made these little snowbabies.

We love snow days here (even when we have to work, though my preference is to be at home!).  But now that we've had 2 weeks of them, I'm ready for all the snow to finally melt and just move on!  Come on, spring!  (And, Happy March!)
