Weekend

It was such a lovely weekend (weather-wise) around here!  We spent a lot of it outside...

Thursday morning at the park with our people (Casey, Ezra and Pax)

Homemade granola, new recipe and one of my favorite foods (though I don't make it often enough... No one else eats it around here except for me, but it's not much work!  I need to think to make it more often).

Friday morning midwife visit while James was at school...  Little did we know that James was coming down with something and started running a high fever late Friday afternoon, which changed most of our weekend plans to being quarantined at home (like missing Canaan's birthday party on Saturday - happy birthday to our best 3 year old nephew!)

Saturday morning before heading to see the pediatrician (thankful our primary has Saturday hours!) - this rash is called petechiae, which is just lots of tiny broken capillaries.  Often you'll see this in folks who have clotting/bleeding disorders, but *sometimes* normal people get it with excessive force (think: vomiting).  James developed it with the cough that he had all Friday night (that continues still...)!  He has had some petechiae in the past, (like after vomiting or a long, hard tantrum) but no other signs of random or easy bleeding, so we aren't really worried!  He's just a fair-skinned dude with weak tissues (always gotta be working on that nutrition!).

Waiting room at the pediatrician's - tested negative for flu (good for pregnant mama!)

Everyone crashed during naptime because we had been awake all the night before with James... except me!  Not that I wasn't exhausted, but nesting is in high gear right now.  So, I went to Lowe's to pick up mulch and spread it all over our front beds.  It was SO nice to work outside in the lovely weather.  I definitely crashed later...

After rest time, the boys did some work trimming the river birches in the back yard (here, James is loaded up on Tylenol and Motrin so he was feeling ok, despite his fever & cough).

Sammy lounging with mama on the deck.

Sunday morning, James' fever was still pretty high, so he landed in bed with me while daddy went to church to play music.

Another pretty day, so we spent our Sabbath on the deck.

Sunday rest time (I can't help but think of tiny, newborn James when I look at this photo.  It's true, he will "always be my baby.")

The good news is that James woke up fever free and hasn't had any medications to suppress it in about 24 hours... So I think we are over the hump!  He still has a terrible cough that makes his chest hurt (and that rash just keeps growing), and now Sam has a wet, productive cough... Praying that he remains afebrile so we can enjoy this beautiful week of spring-like weather!
