Pierce & Reagan 2013 Christmas Show

As mentioned here, music is very important to my husband.  Listening to music, playing music, creating new music.  It's one of the few things in his busy days that energizes him and fills him with life.  He has been writing and playing music with his dearest friend, Wen Reagan, for 10 years!  They started playing together in college and have recorded a handful of albums together (check them out here and here and on iTunes).  Of course, Wen's wife Casey (my favorite friend) is uber talented as well and really completes the harmony trio.  Anyone who has ever heard these three together would agree that there is nothing that compares to hearing their voices together in harmony.  Leave one out and it's just not the same.

For several years, Wen, Casey and Stuart have performed a Christmas show.  Each year the group looks a little different, as they gather their favorite local musicians to join them. We knew that this year may possibly be the last year (for a little while) that a show would be possible due to lots of big, exciting life changes in all of our lives (mostly Wen growing up and getting a job that will likely take them away from NC).  So, in the midst of PhD-ing and doctoring and Casey growing a baby in her belly, we planned and put on the best Pierce-Reagan show that has ever existed.  I think they had their first-ever standing ovation (and no encore prepared!).

The show was hosted at Extraordinary Ventures, where our church meets for worship on Sunday mornings.  Joining us were Kevin Ludwick on the keyboard, Chris Merrick on percussion, Eddie Taylor on bass and Gary Benjamin on keyboard/electric organ.  We were also so, so blessed to have the talents of Chris' wife Jill (another favorite friend!), who baked thousands of cookies and helped with decorating.

It was such a fun, thoughtful celebration of Advent and I'm thankful we were able to pull it off this year, during the (arguably) busiest season of the busiest year of our lives!
